Phillips

REVIEW
One
Lucky Night – An Anthology – 3.75 stars
This
is a romantic collection of five, interrelated short stories
revolving around one, snowy night in an Irish pub in Boston. Each
character meets an eccentric old man, gets lucky in love, and has
some hot sex. This is a lovely collection which is like comfort food
for the heart. Think shepherd's pie, chicken pot pie, and boxty
accompanied by a pint of Guinness.
New
adults try to fix the mistakes of the past, and rekindle their first
love. The plot is fairly complex to tackle in a short story, and deep
rooted issues are resolved rather quickly. The heroine is both
adorable, and strong. This feels more like an excerpt from a larger
story, and I was left wanting the rest.
This
is a friends to lovers storyline, which centers around two new
adults. After being mugged, Charlotte turns to her friend Tommy for
comfort, and then struggles trying to tell him she feels more than
friendship for him. It's an engrossing story with a very satisfying
ending. I cheered for Charlotte as she stumbled through her dilemma.
Holly
fights her attraction to Irish, folk singer Cian every step of the
way. She's been burnt before, and doesn't plan to make the same
mistake twice. Fortunately for us, Cian is not only charming, but
also has the luck of the Irish. The author lets us in on the
beginning of what promises to be a wonderful relationship. Cian is a
delightful morsel, and it's fun watching him seduce Holly.
The
most flirtatious bartender at the pub struggles with his attraction
to the most self-sacrificing woman he has ever met. These two people
are polar opposites who find both common ground and love.
Unfortunately, Sean and Lexi come across more as caricatures than
people, and their attraction was a little hard to understand. It's a
cute story for those who like classical romantic archetypes.
A
bachelorette party provides the perfect excuse for two competitive
students to explore their attraction to one another. The party game
is fun, and I wish there had been even more details on the dares. The
hero is wearing a kilt, which automatically adds bonus points to this
review! It's a cute story, which proves once again that anger and
love are closer emotions than we think.
About the Authors

he's a chihuahua.

with her charming husband and three cats who firmly believe they are royalty.
Ana is a member of Romance Writers of America.

Her perfect fantasy vacation would involve hunting Dracula across Europe with
her daughter, who also digs that kind of stuff.
