Art Painted with Words - "Still Life With Strings" by L.H. Cosway #Review

Book Scorecard

**Stars**

Overall
5
A beautiful story crafted with attention to every detail. Tragedy balanced with humor. Romance entwined with sex. It doesn't get any better than this.
Fantasy World
5
The streets of Dublin come alive especially during Jade's daydreams. They're absolutely stunning.
Tingle
5
The story starts off with a bang, then works the excitement slowly back up again. The sex scenes are explicit without being overdone.
Characters
5
Shane and Jade are very real. They're likeable without being perfect. The villain is deliciously evil, and the teenagers are perfectly cast.
Story
5
The romantic plot is predictable, but pleasurable. There are some amazing coincidences, but they are surrounded by such magic it's hard to find fault.

Summary
“Still Life with Strings” by L.H. Cosway transcends categories such as romance or erotica and ventures into the territory of literature. It's art painted with words. This is where being an indie author pays off because L.H. Cosway is free to mix and match pieces of genres to create a unique vision. The heroine, Jade has a past as rough as the neighborhood in which she lives. Trying to envision a world where she can have a relationship with Shane is beyond her. Shane himself has recently experienced tragedy, and found even a life full of beautiful trappings wasn't enough to save him. Together they try to find the love and happiness which has so far escaped them.

This book is a damn steal at $2.99. Go buy it and enjoy the beautiful hours it adds to your life.

A Cupcake with a Side of Sex Toys - "Shiny!" by Amy Lane #Review

Book Scorecard

**Stars**

Overall
4
"Shiny!" is a feel-good, comedic story with some familiar personal challenges for the characters to overcome. This is a cupcake with a side of sex toys.
Fantasy World
4
Contemporary setting - feels a bit like a movie set. Fun to explore, nothing yanks you out of the story.
Tingle
3
Only a couple of sex scenes. Main focus on characters' feelings, and not explicit action detail.
Characters
4
Will is completely, socially clueless. Kenny and his Smart car emit a twink glow in a neon splash of lime green. They're fun, if a bit stereotypical.
Story
4
Clunky wedding story frame gets in the way. No plot surprises. Several soapbox moments regarding teaching/teachers/education.

Summary
When the world has you down, and things aren't going your way, Amy Lane is there for you. She takes you to a happy place with delightful characters full of entertaining quirks. Will and Kenny are having the worst days ever when they accidentally run into each other. They discover common interests, form a friendship, and then find themselves attracted to one another. However, acting on that attraction is easier said than done. Kenny is scarred from previous relationships, and Will is just figuring out he's gay. Watching them try to hash it out is a good deal of fun.

"Shiny!" is twice as effective as Prozac, and costs a fraction as much. Buy it now, along with some cheesecake, and treat yourself to some happy.

OMG! It's a Gladiator Orgy - The Hunger Gays by Nathan Alexander #Review

Book Scorecard

**Stars**

Overall
2
"The Hunger Games” visits a Roman orgy on their way to the gay gladiator games. Don't expect new plot twists, and you won't be disappointed.
Fantasy World
1
Not enough detail - relies heavily on you referencing “The Hunger Games” world. The battles and game rules are seriously short changed.
Tingle
3
Some hot scenes with good set up. Over quickly, lack detail. Non-consent, dubious consent, male/male action.
Characters
2
Aspen is likeable if dumb. Other characters are not deeply drawn, and change behavior randomly.
Story
1
Plot points follow “The Hunger Games” almost identically. You'll know what's going to happen next.

Summary
“The Hunger Gays” is pretty much as advertised - a gay version of “The Hunger Games”. If you like fan fiction and slash, this is a book for you. The writing isn't great, and you've read/seen the story before. Women are portrayed either misgoynistically or as goddesses which takes virgin/whore representation to a whole new level.

It's worth your time to read if you can't get enough of The Hunger Games, but definitely not worth the $9.99 list price.

One Night Can Change Everything - "One Lucky Night" Official Blog Tour #Review

One night can change everything…

The crew at Boston’s Brazen Head Pub hasn’t been very lucky in love. Can a mysterious visitor inspire them to look past old hurts and misconceptions and give romance a chance? One Lucky Night is a collection of five sexy interwoven novelettes by Aria Kane, Grace Teague, Ana Blaze, Constance Phillips, and Melinda Dozier.

Lucky Break by Aria Kane
Four years ago, chef Derek Chase walked out of Andrea Rivera’s life after a tragedy neither of them were prepared to deal with. When she’s called to the Brazen Head to repair a dishwasher, old sparks ignite buried feelings.

Lucky Star by Grace Teague
When her life is threatened by a mugger, Charlotte Price realizes she's in love with her best friend, Tommy Leung. The Brazen Head seems like the perfect neutral place to confess her feelings, but nothing goes according to plan.

A New Tune by Ana Blaze
When it comes to dating, Holly Hall has one unbreakable rule: no musicians. Not even gorgeous ones. Especially not gorgeous ones. Dating them only leads to heartbreak. So why did she let singer-songwriter Cian O’Neill kiss her? And why is she thinking about doing it again?

Lexi’s Chance by Constance Phillips
As a bartender, Sean Whelan meets all kinds of women every night, but none turn his head the way that Lexi has. She’s been playing cat and mouse with him for weeks. Tonight, Sean’s determined to get Lexi to quit teasing and take a real chance on him.

Drink or Dare by Melinda Dozier
A bachelorette party Drink or Dare game pairs paramedic students, Rachel Robertson and Killian Whelan, in a flirting match. Soon, the dares threaten to turn their academic rivalry into something much more.

REVIEW

One Lucky Night – An Anthology – 3.75 stars

This is a romantic collection of five, interrelated short stories revolving around one, snowy night in an Irish pub in Boston. Each character meets an eccentric old man, gets lucky in love, and has some hot sex. This is a lovely collection which is like comfort food for the heart. Think shepherd's pie, chicken pot pie, and boxty accompanied by a pint of Guinness.

Lucky Break by Aria Kane – 3 stars
New adults try to fix the mistakes of the past, and rekindle their first love. The plot is fairly complex to tackle in a short story, and deep rooted issues are resolved rather quickly. The heroine is both adorable, and strong. This feels more like an excerpt from a larger story, and I was left wanting the rest.

Lucky Star by Grace Teague – 4 stars
This is a friends to lovers storyline, which centers around two new adults. After being mugged, Charlotte turns to her friend Tommy for comfort, and then struggles trying to tell him she feels more than friendship for him. It's an engrossing story with a very satisfying ending. I cheered for Charlotte as she stumbled through her dilemma.

A New Tune by Ana Blaze – 4 stars
Holly fights her attraction to Irish, folk singer Cian every step of the way. She's been burnt before, and doesn't plan to make the same mistake twice. Fortunately for us, Cian is not only charming, but also has the luck of the Irish. The author lets us in on the beginning of what promises to be a wonderful relationship. Cian is a delightful morsel, and it's fun watching him seduce Holly.

Lexi’s Chance by Constance Phillips – 3 stars
The most flirtatious bartender at the pub struggles with his attraction to the most self-sacrificing woman he has ever met. These two people are polar opposites who find both common ground and love. Unfortunately, Sean and Lexi come across more as caricatures than people, and their attraction was a little hard to understand. It's a cute story for those who like classical romantic archetypes.

Drink or Dare by Melinda Dozier – 4 stars
A bachelorette party provides the perfect excuse for two competitive students to explore their attraction to one another. The party game is fun, and I wish there had been even more details on the dares. The hero is wearing a kilt, which automatically adds bonus points to this review! It's a cute story, which proves once again that anger and love are closer emotions than we think.

About the Author There are those moments in life when a person you respect says something to you that strikes a chord, we’ve all had them … that moment came one Parents’ Evening when I was 16. An inspirational teacher said; “Your daughter should consider a career in Journalism or as a writer, she has a vivid imagination and a flair for creative writing …” As a wide-eyed teenager, those words were music to my ears. How prophetic was it that I went on to do just that … I have worked in Insurance, Fashion and in advertising as a Copywriter and Commercial Journalist and loved every minute of it; creative people are a lot of fun to be around. I swapped the day job for a more meaningful enterprise: having our daughter Jenna. Now 29, she’s a fiercely independent woman living the dream in Australia. She was a heavenly surprise that had me working freelance for four years, doing what I could between feeds, playgroups and afternoon lessons in preparation for starting school. It’s a ‘story’ we can all identify with, I’m sure. I made a sideways move into teaching in 1997 and, six years later, became Head of English in a High School, making it my mission in life to introduce young people to a range of quality reading material. I try to foster a love of all things creative in my students and encourage them to find that creativity within themselves. For as long as I can remember, I have lived with The Story of Us in my head. The fact that Elizabeth Parker is an English teacher should come as no surprise; as novelists we write, initially, about what we know … Yet, I should confess, she isn’t me but rather that young, sensitive and naïve woman we all were or still are. The difference being, she has been victimized and, because of it, remained hidden. But, unlike some characters who may have suffered at the hands of others, she is not damaged: wary yes, but not damaged. She still believes people are innately good and that is one of her many qualities. It is her propensity for compassion that allows her to invite Ayden Stone into her world when, on the face of it, he’s exactly what she doesn’t need. So that’s me, furiously typing away until the early hours, unveiling the intricacies of a 21st century fairy-tale; creating an epic story that melds a heady mixture of romance suspense and a touch of the miraculous.
